Chinese Medicine for Pregnancy & Beyond
If you're seeking Chinese medical care, you might be envisioning a natural and holistic pregnancy and birth experience. Perhaps you’d like to approach it all “unmedicated” or you might be open to interventions. Either way, you want to give your baby the best, starting in the womb, and we applaud and support your impulse to do so.
Pregnancy and the entry into parenthood is an intense, miraculous, and truly transitional moment in your life. No matter where you are at in your journey, Chinese medicine offers gentle, effective solutions to ease you through this time.
Bring your hormones into balance, mellow out PMS, and establish or re-ignite a rhythm to your monthly cycles. Commonly treated conditions include: anovulation, long, short, or absent periods, painful periods, menstrual migraines, cystic ovaries/PCOS, and endometriosis.
When should I begin treatment if I'm pregnant?
“I worked with Brooke 6 months prior to conceiving and then through my whole pregnancy. She is absolutely amazing! I seriously can not praise her highly enough. She is also a mindful mama herself and helped me believe that I too could have a natural childbirth. She helped regulate my cycles, taught me how to track ovulation, and figure out truly how our whole system works. Her office is beautiful and quaint. It’s intimate and inviting. (Not clinical at all, which is nice because while you’re pregnant the last thing you want is to be inside yet another doctor’s office.) Her entire practice is based on a mindful approach to life. I would recommend her to any woman who is thinking about getting pregnant in the near future.”
You're welcome to begin treatment at any point in your pregnancy since Chinese medicine can ease symptoms and support health in all 3 trimesters and beyond.
It's ideal to commit to a course of multiple sessions during pregnancy. Acupuncture is a cumulative medicine, meaning that each successive treatment allows for a deeper and “stickier” shift for the better in the body. This is especially true when pursuing treatment for labor preparation.
It's strongly recommended to begin labor preparation sessions at or around 36 weeks of pregnancy. This allows the body to have sufficient time to incorporate the positive effects of acupuncture, including softening of the cervix, preparation of the uterine ligaments, as well as a timely, efficient labor with less interventions.
